“The Cat in the Hat” by Dr Seuss Tuffet

I saw this FQ bundle online and once again could immediately imagine a young child sitting on it, reading a Dr Seuss book (or any book).  This fabric has inspired me to try to create some tuffets for children, to enjoy sitting on, whilst reading.

Arranged my fabric into my pattern and then proceeded to cut my strips.

Pinned my strips to my precut muslin and sewed to them on, according to the pattern.

Continued to sew my strips as per my pattern until all eighths were done and then laid the eighths out so I could check my pattern was correct.

And added my fabric to my button, to check it out with the design.   I had already decided it had to be the yellow as it’s so vibrant and would make the tuffet ‘pop’.

Sewed my eighths together, then my quarters and then my two halves.

Now I was ready to assemble my tuffet.

This just needed the bottom fabric adding and the feet.

The “Cat in the Hat” Tuffet is now complete and ready to sell.
